What It Takes to Be Among America’s Top Remodelers: Lessons from Owner & President of Statewide Windows & Doors, John Dyda

This year, something big happened for our team at Statewide Windows & Doors. We climbed from #134 in 2024 to #79 in 2025 on the Qualified Remodeler Top 500 list. That put us inside the Top 100 remodelers in the entire country.

You can check out the full listing here: Qualified Remodeler 2025 Top 500.

Now, don’t get me wrong, it feels great to see the number next to our name. But for me, this isn’t just about ranking on a list. It’s about what that number represents: the work of our team, the trust of our clients, and the mindset that we’re never done getting better.

Here are a few lessons I’ve learned on the way up the list:

1. Take care of people first

Our clients don’t just buy windows and doors. They buy confidence, peace of mind, and a better home. If we don’t put people first, listening, communicating, delivering, we don’t grow. It’s that simple.

2. Build a team that believes in the mission

I can’t take the credit for this recognition alone. It’s the installers, the sales team, the office staff; every single person who buys into the mission and shows up every day ready to win. When your team believes in what you’re building, growth isn’t forced. It’s natural.

3. Quality over everything

Growth only matters if it’s built on a solid foundation. Chasing volume at the expense of quality is a fast way to burn out. We’d rather do fewer jobs at the highest standard than more jobs we can’t be proud of. Funny enough, that commitment to quality ends up driving more growth anyway.

4. Growth requires intention

Jumping 55 spots in one year didn’t happen by accident. It came from strategy. Investing in people, systems, and processes that let us scale without losing what makes us different. Growth is not just doing more. It’s doing better, smarter, and more efficiently.

5. Don’t stop climbing

Breaking into the Top 100 is a milestone. But it’s not the finish line. If anything, it lit a fire under us. We’ve got momentum, and we’re not interested in slowing down. The goal is to keep climbing, year after year, while never losing sight of why we started in the first place: helping people improve their homes.

Looking forward

I’m proud of this recognition, but I’m even more proud of the people behind it. For me, the Qualified Remodeler Top 500 isn’t about status. It’s about proof that when you take care of your team, your clients, and your craft, the results will take care of themselves.

We’re just getting started.
